Fresh jowar and bajra rotis, packed in stacks ready for delivery
The pale rotis are jowar, the yellow-green are bajra. Rolled and part-cooked in our own licensed kitchen.

The rotis

The one thing a dark store cannot sell you

Fresh roti with no preservative keeps two to three days chilled. That is why nobody stocks it: holding it is the whole problem. We don't hold anything — orders close at 11 PM, the rotis are made that night and reach your gate in the morning.

What we mean, and what we don’t

“Diabetes-friendly” here describes who is shopping, not what the food does. This is a basket of ordinary groceries chosen for their composition — whole millet rather than refined flour, vegetables high in fibre, curd with no sugar added, whole legumes, nuts and seeds.

We make no medical claim about it, because we are a grocery service and not qualified to. Nothing here is formulated for a condition, and none of it replaces what your doctor or dietitian tells you. If you are managing diabetes, plan your food with them — and if this basket helps you follow that plan without thinking about it every night, that is the entire idea.

Why this matters here

The ICMR-INDIAB study, published in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology in 2023, estimated 101 million adults in India living with diabetes and 136 million with prediabetes. Nearly every family we deliver to has someone cooking around it — and almost every grocery service is built for speed rather than for what ends up on the plate.

Do you make millet food for a living?

Millet snacks, jowar and bajra flour, sattu, podis, dry laddus — most of the best of it is made by women running small units around Telangana, with no way to reach a household in Hyderabad. Rozbasket Saheli buys an agreed quantity every week and handles the packaging, the label and the delivery.

Questions

Rotis, millets and the basket

Do you deliver fresh jowar and bajra roti in Hyderabad?

Yes — Rozbasket delivers fresh jowar and bajra rotis to your society gate between 7–10 AM, at ₹150 for a pack of 10. They arrive rolled and part-cooked, so you finish them on your own tawa in about thirty to forty seconds a side — bas sekna hai. Order the night before by 11:00 PM. They are made in our own licensed kitchen the same night and are not stored anywhere in between, which is the only way fresh roti with no preservative can be sold at all.

What is in the jowar and bajra rotis, and how long do they keep?

Jowar roti is jowar (sorghum) flour, water and salt; bajra roti is bajra (pearl millet) flour, water and salt. There is no maida, no refined flour, no preservative and no palm oil in either. Each pack of 10 carries the date it was made, and the rotis keep two to three days refrigerated — freeze them if you want longer, and thaw before you put them on the tawa. Because there is nothing in them to extend shelf life, they are made against confirmed orders rather than held in stock.

How do I cook the rotis when they arrive?

Take them out of the fridge about ten minutes before you eat, then put them on a hot dry tawa for thirty to forty seconds a side. No oil is needed and no dough is involved. They puff slightly and the char marks darken when they are ready; add ghee at the end if you like. A pack of 10 is roughly two to three people at one meal.

What is in the Diabetes-Friendly Basket?

The Diabetes-Friendly Basket is a week of ordinary groceries for two people, chosen for their composition: jowar and bajra rotis instead of refined flour, high-fibre vegetables like bitter gourd, methi, okra and cucumber, unsweetened curd, eggs and paneer, whole toor dal, almonds and flax seeds, and guava. It costs ₹1810 delivered, and every item can be added, dropped or swapped over WhatsApp. "Diabetes-friendly" describes who is shopping, not what the food does — Rozbasket is a grocery service and makes no medical claim about this basket. Nothing in it is formulated for a condition, and none of it replaces the advice of your doctor or dietitian.

Is this a diabetic food product?

No — it is ordinary groceries, curated. Rozbasket does not sell formulated or medical foods, does not claim any product prevents, treats or manages diabetes, and is not a substitute for medical or dietetic advice. What we do is stock whole millets, high-fibre vegetables, unsweetened dairy and whole legumes, and put them together in one basket so somebody cooking around blood sugar does not have to rebuild the same shopping list every week. If you want the basket adjusted to a plan your dietitian has given you, send it to us on WhatsApp and we will match it item by item.

Do you sell jowar, bajra and ragi flour, and millets to cook instead of rice?

Yes — Rozbasket stocks jowar flour, bajra flour and ragi flour in 1 kg packs, and foxtail millet (korralu) by the kilo for cooking in place of rice, alongside kala chana, sprouted moong, tofu, almonds, walnuts, flax seeds, chia seeds and raw peanuts. They arrive on the same next-morning delivery as the rest of your order, with no separate minimum. If you would rather not roll the dough at all, the fresh jowar and bajra rotis are the same grain, already made.
